Touch-a-Recycling Truck & Craft

|

Tuesday July 23, 2pm on the Weaver Library lawn.

See how a REAL recycling truck works up close, play recycling games, and make a birdhouse out of recycled materials.

Mega Disposal will be parking an actual recycling truck in the library parking lot—a truck that you may have seen driving down your street in East Providence! Take a close look at the truck, touch it, and watch it in action as it demonstrates grabbing a recycling bin and emptying the contents into the back. You may even get to talk to a recycling truck driver to learn all about their job and what they have experienced.

You will also learn some fun facts about recycling in Rhode Island and test your knowledge by playing recycling games to see who will be the winner.

After that, use markers and stickers to design and decorate your very own birdhouse made out of a plastic bottle and other recycled materials.

Go home with the knowledge of how recycling works, and how you can do your part to help reduce, reuse, and recycle in your community.

The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services, with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
